@abraxas3d.bsky.social You seem very invested in resisting the actual demographics of EV ownership. Yeah, it's a whole lot of "rich white dudes", dating all the way back to the EV1 and still true today. This is not an opinion. You can go look it up.

@abraxas3d.bsky.social Very true.
@abraxas3d.bsky.social I drove two Honda Preludes (entered both in SCCA) and tend to agree with you.
@abraxas3d.bsky.social Good for you! That's great.
Tesla is definitely not Chevrolet. I think you're proving the point here better than I could, tbh.
Like, why aren't you already on your third or fourth Tesla instead of a Chevy.
Oh, and maintenance costs are low until you wear out your Leaf battery and it costs $12k
@abraxas3d.bsky.social ICE vehicle maintenance costs are no joke, but they're pretty well known. You can expect to get at least 10 years of service out of an ICE car.
If you have to replace your EV battery it tends to be anywhere from $9k to $15k. Oops! About the same as 10 years of ICE maintenance.

@abraxas3d.bsky.social I have driven off-the-shelf EVs for 15+ years. We wore out two sets of Leaf batteries.
Before that, converted a VW Rabbit to electric. In a cold weather state.
I know their limitations through experience.
If your use case is sitting 12 hours a day in traffic, then you are probably a bot.
@abraxas3d.bsky.social I sat up to listen.
"Wheels needed realignment and the doors were munged up so badly that the windows didn't align right anymore."
Hmmm, I mused in auto mechanics apprentice training at Little Rock Metropolitan VoTech circa 1990. sounds like she bent the frame.
@abraxas3d.bsky.social We have seen that modest injuries can prove fatal to these cars that are built for a narrow use case. Sure, they work if you are a rich white dude in southern California and never do anything except drive to your job.
They don't work for moms, families, poor people, non-urbans, or in cold weather.
@abraxas3d.bsky.social You serve this car, not the other way around. Rich white dudes that designed it really and honestly believe that everyone is like them.
An internal combustion minivan beats a #Tesla in all categories if you have kids or take care of an elder. You can't afford the self-centered nature of a Tesla.
@firinel.bsky.social All hail Fin!
@abraxas3d.bsky.social Currently, the DSES dish is in the link budget dataclass.
DSES has an 18m dish. But involved in this effort is Dwingeloo at 25m and Stockert at 25m. Hoping to get more amateur sites involved for October 2026 conjunction.
@kanokiegal.bsky.social A couple of "boos" aren't going to cut it.
@basedsocialism.bsky.social Note: Learn "just enough" rules to buy "just enough" of the right models. No need to learn what those weirdo Tau do when you are fired up to have a tiny Black Templar Patrol.
The most important rule is to make sure your opponent is having fun playing you, so things start off on the right foot.
@basedsocialism.bsky.social DELIGHTFULLY intimidating. Embrace the game. It's like D&D. You fake it until you make it and every bit of the process is a blast. Literally, in the case of apocalyptic sized explosions.
Seriously, pick an army, come up with a narrative, and learn enough rules to buy the right models. Totally fun!
